Before blogs or Facebook or Twitter there was the ever-annoying forwarded e-mail. If you think about it, the entire e-mail system was really the first social network. If you had something that you wanted to share, you would put it in an e-mail then send it off to your entire list of contacts with a note at the end to, “please pass this on.”
Although these forwarded e-mails are becoming rare, I still get them once in awhile. I’ve never been one to re-forward the e-mails to my entire list of contacts. Because I was annoyed by them, I didn’t want to annoy others. I have, however, jumped on the Facebook and Twitter bandwagons. More recently, I’ve joined the blogosphere and have found it to be my favorite way to share information, knowledge and opinions. Now, when I get the forwarded e-mails, I turn them into a blog post. Here is the latest one that I received:
Apparently, this was in the Waco Tribune Herald, from Waco, TX, on Nov 18, 2010. I attempted to search the archives of the publication online to verify, but was unsuccessful. Regardless of where it came from, or who wrote it, I felt that it was good enough to share.
I don’t know who added the “pass it on...” part to the end, but I’m sure that was not in the original newspaper piece. Again, just a characteristic of the good ole forwarded e-mail.
As for my commentary on the content of the post, I agree with the supposed 21-year old female. My favorite point is the last one, where she declares that you will voluntarily remove yourself from having the right to vote for as long as you are on Government subsistence. I have had this very same opinion for a long time, but I was enlightened by this post. Although I understand the concept, I never worded it as “a conflict of interest.” This makes perfect sense, and reminds me of a quote I’ve heard. I’m going to have to paraphrase, because I don’t know who originally stated this. I believe it was from one of the politicians or lawmakers that lived during the early stages of the foundation of America. It went something like this: As soon as the people figure out that they can vote themselves a raise, this country will be doomed.
Currently, in America, nearly half of all people do not pay any federal income taxes at all. These are generally the same people who rely on some sort of government assistance. Meanwhile, the higher income earners pay out nearly half of their income in taxes (more than half in some states).
Putting these 2 facts together, do you think the people have figured out that they can vote themselves a raise yet? Is America doomed?

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.
Put me in charge . . .
Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.
In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”
Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.
AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.
Now, if you have the guts - PASS IT ON...
I don’t know who added the “pass it on...” part to the end, but I’m sure that was not in the original newspaper piece. Again, just a characteristic of the good ole forwarded e-mail.
